Saban statue unveiling set at U. of Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - The University of Alabama will add some history on its campus when Nick Saban's statue joins the likenesses of other UA football coaches who won national titles: Paul W. "Bear" Bryant, Gene Stallings, Wallace Wade and Frank Thomas.

Just like the thousands of Crimson Tide football fans who will gather on the Walk of Champions outside Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, UA student and artist Jeremy Davis will see the finished product for the first time.

The 27-year-old Davis was commissioned by the UA Athletic Department to create the statue. His 3-foot mold of the sculpture was sent to an awards manufacturing company, where the final 9-foot bronze statue was cast.
