Man in court for allegedly running over bicyclist

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -  A man indicted last year for running over an Auburn bicyclist will go before a judge Thursday.

Police say Andrew Holland, 23, left the scene of an accident in August of 2009.

Holland allegedly struck Ty Garner, a popular physical therapist, on Shug Jordan Parkway near Richland Road.

Authorities say Holland, who was 21 at the time of the accident, left the scene, then returned a while later.

"He was indicted for felony leaving the scene of an accident and felony assault second.  He did turn himself into Auburn Police Department," said Auburn Police Chief, Tommy Dawson.

Garner was airlifted to the hospital for life-threatening injuries, including trauma to the head.
