New bridge to open Friday in Auburn

From the City of Auburn

AUBURN, AL - The newly constructed North Donahue Bridge will be open to traffic by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22.

The project began in March 2010 to remove and replace the existing bridge and widen the existing roadway.

In early March 2011, the contractor for the North Donahue Drive Bridge Replacement and Roadway Widening project had informed the City in March that the projected completion date of March 29, 2011 wouldn't be met due to construction delays.

Since then, the City's Public Works Department has worked closely with the contractor to ensure a quick completion.

The new bridge structure has three 12-foot lanes, 6-foot wide paved shoulders, and a protected 8-foot wide multi-use pathway.

The roadway has been widened from the bridge terminus to Farmville Road, and a 3-lane roadway section has been constructed from Crescent Drive to Farmville Road
