COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) - Aflac announced Tuesday its selection for the new voice of the Aflac duck.
Aflac began its quest for the new voice last month after Gilbert Gottfried was fired for making insensitive remarks on Twitter about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Gottfried had voiced the duck for more than 10 years.
In his place, Aflac has been airing a re-edited 2006 ad featuring its icon in a silent movie.
Aflac's Facebook page says more than 11,000 people applied for the position.
News Leader 9 is following today's developments. We'll have the announcement as soon as it becomes available.
