Tip leads to two arrests in Troup County

LaGRANGE, GA (WXTX) - After receiving an anonymous tip, Troup County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit Agents and Investigators made contact with an individual in regards to an allegedly stolen
four-wheeler and the distribution of illegal narcotics.

Press release from the Troup County Sheriff's Office: 

Cody Weathers, age 24 of LaGrange, took the Investigators over to the location of the four-wheeler. A quick check of the Vehicle's Identification Number (VIN) indicated that it was indeed stolen. A consent to search was provided of Weathers' workshop.

Numerous tools, copper wire, nuts & bolts (believed to be previously stolen), digital scales and smoking devices were found inside the shop.

A subsequent search of Weathers' bedroom, turned up a stolen and loaded 9mm pistol, four bags of suspected methamphetamine, a glass smoking pipe and numerous small plastic baggies commonly used in the packaging and resale of illegal narcotics.

Weathers was then transported to the Troup County Jail, where he is being charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Theft by Taking and Theft by Receiving of Stolen property.

In connection with this same case, Matthew Truitt Brawner (age 27, LaGrange) has been arrested and charged with Theft by Receiving of Stolen Property for a pull behind trailer that was recovered during the investigation. Other charges are likely to follow as this investigation continues.
