Ala. meteorologist to be released from hospital

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A Huntsville area meteorologist is being released from a Florence hospital after sustaining lacerations and broken ribs during Wednesday's deadly storm surge.

Christy Douglas, the station's assignment manager and anchor, said WAAY-TV meteorologist Gary Dobbs was injured while he was taking shelter from the storm in a closet at home.

Dobbs is reported to have directed people who were located in an area restaurant to safety in a storm shelter when the weather hit.

Dobbs was not able to reach the shelter during the storm, and resorted to the structural safety of his own home, which was destroyed by the devastating storms.
