School bus crash in Seale sends 40 to the hospital

SEALE, AL (WTVM) -  News Leader Nine is on the scene of a school bus crash in Seale, Alabama.

At 12:30 Thursday afternoon the Russell County Sheriff's Department and Alabama State Troopers responded to a call at the intersection of Highway 431 and Highway 169 in reference to a school bus that hit a car. Officers say the Russell County school bus was crossing Highway 431 when it apparently struck a car.

Information about the driver of the car is unknown at this point, but hospital officials tell us the individual is being treated at the Columbus Medical Center for injuries related to the crash. 

A total of four adults and 36 students were taken to the emergency room by another Russell County school bus to be treated for minor injuries including scratches and bruises. No serious injuries are being reported for the children.

The Russell County Sheriff's Office says they believe the school bus was transporting students from Dixie Elementary School.
