MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A former president of Auburn University's national alumni association is suing the governor and others in an attempt to undo the recent selection of nine trustees, including Bobby Lowder.
Andy Hornsby filed the suit in Lee County Circuit Court against the governor and other members of the Auburn trustee selection committee. He says their meeting last month in Montgomery where nine trustees were picked did not follow the state's open meetings law. He seeks to have the actions taken in that meeting invalidated.
The committee voted to reappoint trustees Jimmy Rane, Virginia Thompson, Sarah Newton, Byron Franklin, Charles McCrary and Lowder.
It also picked three new trustees: B.T. Roberts, Jimmy Sanford and Elizabeth Huntley.
A spokeswoman for Gov. Robert Bentley declined to comment on the suit.
