Amber Alert: Alabama man sought after Florida boy is taken

OZARK, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say an Ozark man being sought in the disappearance of his grandson is believed to be armed and dangerous.

An Amber Alert was issued for 18-month-old Waylan Alexander Snipes of Chipley, Fla., after he was taken from his home around 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities said the boy's grandfather, 36-year-old Ozark resident William Anthony Snipes, was the subject of searches in Holmes and Washington counties in Florida and in Ozark.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says Snipes took the baby and drove away in a Chevrolet truck with Alabama license plate 26A55B8.

Officials say a ground search was conducted in Washington County and Holmes County, where Snipes is believed to have relatives.

Residents living in the Ozark area where officials say Snipes lives say they haven't seen any suspicious activity.
