Columbus man dies in fall from Ferris wheel

GREENSBORO, NC (WTVM) – Police in Greensboro, North Carolina say a worker from Columbus has died and another has been critically injured after they fell while dismantling a Ferris wheel.

Investigators say 42-year-old Michael Cook was killed in the accidental fall shortly before 2 am Monday.

The name of the injured man has not been released.

The annual Greensboro Youth Council carnival took place this year at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The accident happened at the close of the six-day carnival.
