CHAMBERS COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -  The top criminal investigator at the Lanett Police Department is out of jail after he was arrested Monday.

Lieutenant Tracy Bandy has been released on an $11,500 bond after being charged with bribery, releasing confidential information and hindering prosecution.

The Chambers County Drug Task Force, the District Attorney's Office and the FBI, say a 3-month investigation helped them gather evidence that lieutenant Bandy received personal gain for releasing identities of confidential informants and information relating to search warrants.

The task force says Bandy's actions put drug informants and officers in danger.

Bandy told News Leader 9 he thought the charges were, "Funny".

News Leader 9 is waiting to see if Bandy will ask for a preliminary hearing or if he will waive it.

The Chambers County District Attorney's office says the next preliminary hearing date has been set for June 3rd.

Count on News Leader 9 to bring you the latest information in this developing story.
