Gateway Mitsubishi closes unexpectedly

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  After 28 years of service in the Columbus community, Gateway Mitsubishi locked up shop unexpectedly, leaving nothing but a note and a lot of questions.

Just over a year ago, the business dropped Lincoln and Mercury vehicles from its inventory, but in a previous interview, owner Dan Snow said their service department could still help those customers, "We did recently resign the franchise Lincoln-Mercury franchise we will not be able to sell new Lincoln-Mercury products anymore of course we'll still be selling pre-owned used cars pre-owned Lincoln-Mercury and so forth."

A sign says Gateway Mitsubishi closed Wednesday, and we noticed several cars missing from the parking lot. This is the same parking lot where flooding during heavy rains has been an on-going problem for the business.

After numerous calls to the phone number listed on the door, we were unable to get an official comment from the owner of the company.

This is the third major dealership to close in Columbus within the past three years.
