Police search for burglars who stole cigarettes

COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX)-- Columbus Police are asking for help identifying the suspects wanted in connection with a burglary at a South Columbus business.

Two men broke into The Corner Store on Dawson Street late Tuesday night, May 24, and stole several boxes of cigar wrappers and packs of Newport cigarettes from behind the sales counter.

One of the suspects is captured on surveillance looking directly into the camera and then backing away from it. He's described as a man in his 20s, 5'10"- 6'00, 165-175 lbs. with low cut black hair and wearing a white tank top, light colored knee-length shorts and white Nike sneakers.

The other suspect is described as a man in his 20s, 150-160 lbs., 5'9"-5'11" with low cut black hair, wearing a white tank top, dark colored knee length shorts and dark colored sandals.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Columbus Police Department's Burglary/Theft Unit at 706-225-4302.

Columbus Police are also asking for help identifying a man wanted in connection with a break-in at a midtown convenience store.

Last week on May 18, he broke into a Circle K on Macon Road and stole a number of cigarettes before taking off in a 1984 Chevy pickup truck.

In surveillance footage from the burglary, the suspect covered his head with a hooded sweatshirt, jumps the front counter with a plastic bag and starts grabbing cigarette boxes. He looks directly into the security camera before going back to taking cigarettes.

He's described as a man in his 20s, around 5'10", 170 lbs. Police found the sweatshirt he was wearing.

No word if these cases are related but the suspect descriptions are all very similar.
