Gov. outlines new process for Auburn trustees

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Auburn trustee selection committee has reopened the process and is taking applications from people who want to serve in any of the nine trustee positions that are available.

Gov. Robert Bentley, who's president of the Auburn trustees, says applications may be submitted electronically to http://www.auburn.edu/trusteenominees2011. The deadline is 4:45 p.m. June 24. He says the selection committee plans to meet in August to narrow down the applicants to no more than three for each position. Then the committee will conduct interviews and pick nominees to submit to the Senate for approval.

The selection committee reopened the process after its first nine nominees stalled in the Senate. Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh refused to bring up the names for consideration because he said the process was too rushed.
