PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - The coroner has positively identified the remains of a body found in Phenix City to be 30-year-old Yamisha Thomas. The mother of two had been missing for a month.

Her body was found in a wood area near the 300 block of 11th Avenue after the owner of a property notified police of his findings Monday night.

Investigators recovered Thomas's body from a shallow grave filled with cement. The coroner said because of decomposition, dental records were used to identify the remains.

Police say Thomas' boyfriend, Sylvester Davis, was the last person to see her alive.

He has not officially been named a suspect in the case, but he is currently being held at the Muscogee County Jail on a probation violation and suspended license.

Thomas was last seen in Phenix City at a soul food restaurant with her boyfriend about a month ago.

She was supposed to visit friends in Columbus, but she never made it. Her red Chevrolet Avalanche was found parked behind the Breast Care Center in Columbus that following Monday.

Even though Thomas lives in Phenix City, her mother lives in Columbus and reported her missing to the Columbus Police Department. Investigators on both sides of the river have been searching for her for a month.

The case remains under investigation.  News Leader 9 is following this story. We'll have the latest developments as soon as it becomes available.
