Missing woman, infant found after Ga. hotel birth

AUSTELL, Ga. (AP) - Cobb County police say a woman who disappeared shortly after giving birth at a hotel in Austell has been found safe.

Authorities say Holly Parker-Heard and her newborn, who had been missing since Saturday, were apparently unhurt.

They say a midwife who was present at the birth is in custody in Carroll County. Police say they're searching for a man identified as Christian Turner, and that both are charged with kidnapping and cruelty to children.

Cobb County Police spokesman Dana Pierce says the infant, who was with the midwife, was doing well at a hospital.

Police say the 27-year-old Parker-Heard disappeared from a hotel near Six Flags Over Georgia.

They say the mother texted a photo of the infant to family members before she disappeared.
