COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Special Operations Investigation team along with the Columbus Police Department made a total of 16 arrests over the weekend following a prostitution and pandering bust.
Around 1:00 p.m. Saturday the team set up a pandering operation with undercover female officers posing as prostitutes.
The sting was set up near the 3000 block of 3rd Avenue where individuals would stop and offer money for sex.
Later in the day, officers arrested 16 individuals at 3170 Victory Drive for pandering, and two others for prostitution.
One person was arrested for possession of marijuana, another for possession of a drug related object and a third person was charged with attempted robbery after trying to steal from one of the undercover officers.
Stings of this sort are not unusual, the Special Operations unit conducts these investigations from time to time. Recently, residents and area businesses have submitted complaints about pandering to the police.
The following individuals are in the Muscogee County Jail:
Shannon Crouch and Dorothy Brooks charged with prostitution;
Perez Raiford, Terry Dudley, Isia Martinez, Sean McCary, Mickey Stinson, Marquel Gray and Demarkeyell Sims charged with pandering;
Brandon Crawford charged with criminal attempted robbery;
