Ex-boyfriend charged with Phenix City mom's murder

PHENIX CITY, AL  (WXTX) – Police tell us Sylvester Davis has been charged with the murder of a Phenix City, AL  mom.

The body of Yamisha Thomas, 30,  was found in a shallow grave in Phenix City about a month after her family reported her missing.

Friday, Davis was in a Columbus, GA courtroom for a probation revocation hearing where an officer testified Davis signed a lease with Thomas in Alabama - even though his probation terms prohibited him from leaving the state of Georgia. 

For that violation, Davis was sentenced to one year in prison. Since his arrest in Columbus, Davis has been a person of interest this Phenix City murder case. 

Davis is still behind bars in the Muscogee County Jail. Officials plan to extradite him to Russell County Jail at a later date.
