ATLANTA (AP) - A former state lawmaker has filed an ethics complaint against Democrat Jason Carter, whose campaign manager has since filed similar complaints against Gov. Nathan Deal. A July 17 complaint by former state Sen. John Douglas alleges Carter, a state senator from Atlanta, violated state law by sending fundraiser invitations during the legislative session.

ATLANTA (AP) - Hundreds of protesters on either side of the war in Gaza demonstrated in downtown Atlanta street yesterday. Atlanta Police estimated about 500 people participated, with around 250 standing on either side of Marietta Street outside the Atlanta headquarters of CNN.

ATLANTA (AP) - A judge has approved plans to issue up to $397 million in public bonds to finance a new stadium for the Atlanta Braves in the city's northern suburbs. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports Cobb County Superior Court Judge Robert Leonard II overruled 12 legal objections brought by residents.

HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a Henry County police officer shot and killed a woman in Hampton. Police responding to a 911 call heard a woman screaming inside a home. Officers encountered a woman armed with a weapon. Police say she made a move toward the weapon before she was shot.
