ATLANTA (AP) - Republican Gov. Nathan Deal and his Democratic challenger Jason Carter have attacked each other on education policy at a forum before educators on Monday. The two shared the stage Monday for the first time ahead of the Nov. 4 election at a candidate event hosted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators.

ATLANTA (AP) - Prosecutors say rapper Gucci Mane has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault for attacking a fan at an Atlanta nightclub. Authorities say the 34-year-old rapper, whose real name is Radric Davis, pleaded guilty Monday to hitting a man in the head with a vodka bottle in March 2013 in a nightclub's VIP section.

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia state troopers say they're launching a 72-hour crackdown on unsafe commercial vehicle drivers on Interstate 85. Officials say the crackdown begins Tuesday and troopers will participate in high visibility enforcement along a 178-mile stretch of the freeway between Alabama and South Carolina.

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia officials say all of the state?s 159 counties are now ready for a turn in the Hollywood spotlight. The state Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office announced Monday that in just four years all Georgia counties have taken part in its Camera Ready Community Program.
