Sports Minute: Here is the latest Georgia sports news from The Associated Press

ATLANTA (AP) - Matt Adams hit a two-run homer in his second start since being traded to Atlanta, Ender Inciarte had a career-high five hits and the Braves beat Gerrit Cole and the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 on Monday night. Brandon Phillips also homered for the Braves, who have won eight of 11.

ATLANTA (AP) - First baseman James Loney has requested and received his release from the Braves' Triple-A Gwinnett team. The 33-year-old Loney signed a minor league deal with the team on Thursday after the Braves learned first baseman Freddie Freeman will miss about 10 weeks with a fractured left wrist.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - The Triple-A Gwinnett Braves are asking fans to assist in choosing a new team name for the 2018 season. The team's general manager, North Johnson, says some fans are confused by having the Gwinnett Braves so close to the team's parent Atlanta Braves club, about 30 minutes away.

ATLANTA (AP) - Sometimes, the umpire's ruling is not final. A Georgia high school won an appeal Monday of an umpire's ruling that cost it a baseball playoff series. Johns Creek High School will get a third and deciding game against Lee County High School, after a 5-2 vote by Georgia High School Association trustees.
