ATLANTA (AP) - Time to get some answers about Alabama's quarterback competition. Jake Coker and Blake Sims have been vying for the top job throughout preseason practice. The Crimson Tide's opener against West Virginia today is probably another audition for both.

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - The Auburn Tigers are unlikely to dismiss a team coming off a lousy season. The sixth-ranked Tigers open today against an Arkansas squad that just happens to be in pretty much the same situation they were going into last season. The Razorbacks went 3-9 and lost all eight Southeastern Conference games just like Auburn did two years ago.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - TCU coach Gary Patterson looks forward to seeing how the Horned Frogs' new sped-up offense does in a game. That comes tonight in a home season opener against FCS playoff team Samford. Samford is coached by former TCU coach Pat Sullivan, who isn't making the trip to Fort Worth because of complications from neck surgery in April.

CULLMAN, Ala. (AP) - A north Alabama high school won't get to play football games at home this year after an inspection showed the stadium isn't safe. Cullman County school superintendent Craig Ross says Fairview High School's stadium has structural damage to the bleachers.
