Columbus mayor honors city's achievements

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM ) - It was an evening to celebrate Columbus' economic achievements, as Mayor Teresa Tomlinson held a reception to honor several visiting guests.

Chris Cumiskey, the state's economic development commission along with two other state officials were all in the Fountain City for the reception.

Mayor Tomlinson says this is an important event to help build partnerships at the city level as well as around the state.

"It establishes a relationship upon which we can do the people's business.  These are the gentlemen who are making things happen in Atlanta.  They are affecting policy within the state and we want to make sure Columbus is a part of that," said Tomlinson, Columbus mayor.

Cumiskey says Columbus has become one of the strongest cities in the state in attracting business with nearly two dozen projects started and more than 1000 jobs created.
