CSU Baseball adds another recruit

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Columbus State head baseball Coach Greg Appleton announced another signee to the 2011 recruiting class on Thursday. Stuart Shaw from Grayson, Georgia is the latest addition to the already talented group.

Shaw is a junior college transfer that played his first two seasons of collegiate baseball at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama. This past season Shaw was dominant as the sophomore went 7-3 with a 1.99 earned run average. In 51 1/3 innings pitched, he struck out 47 batters and only issued 11 walks.

In addition to his fine play, Shaw showed leadership skills as he was Lawson State's first team captain to lead his team to a winning record.

Shaw went to Grayson High School and played under coach Seth Rhine where the team made the Georgia High School playoffs in each of his four seasons there. He was also selected to Team Georgia, an elite team consisting of the top junior and senior players in the state of Georgia.
