Gunman fires shot and robs Wells Fargo

OPELIKA, AL (WXTX) - Tuesday morning around 9:15 a.m. the Opelika Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank located at 603 South 6th Street.

Witnesses told police that a black man wearing blue jeans, white tennis shoes, and a burgundy button-up shirt with a gray t-shirt wrapped around his face entered the bank, then fired a shot into the ceiling and demanded money.

The suspect's weapon was described as small and silver.  

The suspect fled on foot and headed east. Before leaving the bank's property, a dye pack exploded. So it is believed the suspect may have red dye on his body.

He may be driving an older model red pickup and is also described as being around 6'2 and weighing around 185 pounds.
