Harris County employee fired for stealing county tires

HAMILTON, GA (WTVM) - Harris County employee, Jeffery Swann, was arrested for taking tires and wheels off of a county vehicle and trying to use them. 

Swann tells Harris County Investigators that someone slashed his tires on Friday night.  Working for the county, he knew where the county leaves vehicles unattended.  He went overnight on Saturday and took all the wheels and tires off of a county vehicle at Moultrie Park in Hamilton. 

But, he old officials the lug nut patterns did not match his own truck.  So, he took the tires and wheels to Pine Mountain Auto trying to trade them for a service. 

Investigators recovered the property at the business in Pine Mountain. 

County Manager Danny Bridges tells News Leader Nine, Swann has been fired from the County.  He worked in road maintenance.
