COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A Muscogee County grand jury has indicted a woman, 40, for allegedly trying to hire someone to kill her husband.

Johnnie Burmeister, who goes by "Missy", faces charges of conspiracy to commit a murder.

Earlier this year, investigators testified in court that Burmeister tried to hire a hitman, that was an undercover agent, to kill her husband, 45-year-old Michael Burmeister.

Officers also testified that she agreed to pay $3,000 for the murder-for-hire.

The couple had recently separated. Johnnie was staying with family and her two kids in north Georgia at the time of the alleged plot. Investigators say the coupled argued constantly over money.

Investigators say Michael Burmeister had no idea about the alleged contract and plans to end his life.
