HARRIS COUNTY, GA (WTVM) – Harris County Sheriff's Office detectives have been investigating a forgery ring for a month. The suspects have been using several business names around the Valley to forge payroll checks.
Chelsea Headley turned herself in to the Harris County Jail Wednesday morning. Her name was on some of the checks and she also was pointed out as someone that cashed a forged check at Bill's Supermarket in Cataula.
Tuesday, Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff's office arrested Adam Headley, Chelsea's husband, in connection with the case. Information connected by clerks at several stores led to Headley. Printers, checks, and check paper were found in his home.
There is some indication that Headley was manufacturing Government checks like GA revenue checks and tax checks. He had an outstanding parole warrant for his arrests in Muscogee County.
Along with the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office, Harris County Deputies arrested Jermal Martin on July 1. They discovered forgery equipment for manufacturing checks, check paper, ID's, check templates, account numbers, printers, and printed checks in his home. They also found several marijuana plants. He was taken to the Muscogee County Jail on drug charges.
Brandon Hickson was also arrested in connection with the case.
Investigator Glenn Presley says there will be other arrests in the case because Martin was not acting alone.
Two other women, Amberiell Hudson and Angela Bryant aka Angela Maddox, who investigators say are the ring leaders, are on the run.
Presley says if anyone in Harris County has received a check from JC Penny, Ryan's, Kelley's Services, or Columbus Roofing that have been returned, please call the Sheriff's Office at 706-628-4211.
