Deputy fire chief indicted for alleged embezzlement of FEMA funds

SMITHS STATION, AL (WTVM) - A volunteer deputy fire chief has been indicted for allegedly using federal grant money on herself.

Angelia Curran, is also a former city council woman and daughter of the current fire chief.

Federal agents did not say how much money Curran is accused of stealing from the $300,000 in grants.

Federal investigators charged her with three counts of embezzling funds from FEMA grants.

Curran is scheduled to be in a Montgomery courtroom next week for her charges.
