Columbus State gets a facelift while students are away

Columbus State University is getting a bit of a face lift while its students are out for the summer.

Several construction projects are currently underway.

CSU says they are working to spruce up various areas of the campus in hopes of giving it more appeal.

One of the projects is adding more green space.

"It's very important for a college campus to give the kids a place to just do stuff whether that be hanging out or soccer practice or Frisbee tournaments or stuff like that.  They want an active campus, something they can use both passively and for group events," said Columbus State spokesperson, John Lester.

Lester tells us the projects are expected to wrap us sometime this fall.

In addition, to improving drainage, the school is working on building new classrooms and putting air condition in Woodruff Gym.
