Toomer's Corner Update: Rolling the trees tradition may stay alive

AUBURN, AL (WXTX) - Is Auburn University ready to put the tradition of rolling the trees at Toomer's Corner to rest?

We are hearing Auburn University has decided if fans will be able to roll the trees at Toomer's Corner this year.

They will be announcing their decision sometime soon.

If the tradition is kept alive, instead of using pressure hoses to rinse off the toilet paper, the university will remove the toilet paper by hand.

Earlier this year, Harvey Updyke admitted on The Paul Finebaum show that he had poisoned the sacred oaks.

Since then, a task force at the university has been monitoring the health and condition of the trees.

As for the poisoning suspect, Harvey Updyke, his trial is scheduled for October 31st. He faces multiple charges including criminal mischief.

Fox 54 will continue following this story. We'll have the latest information as soon as it becomes available.
