MOST WANTED: BB&T robbers on the run

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - It was an ordinary day at the BB&T bank on Whitesville Road in Columbus when all of a sudden things changed for the worse.

Around 2-50 in the afternoon of June 13th two black men entered the bank armed with semi automatic handguns demanding money from the teller.

Although no one was hurt, police say these men are still considered "armed and dangerous".

"At the same time they had weapons and who knows, this time if they might hurt somebody. So it's important that they get off the streets as soon as possible," said Sergeant Donald Bush with the Columbus Police Department.

The first suspect is described as a black male 6"1 weighing between 175-to-180 pounds. He has a fair complexion; he was wearing a ski mask covering most of his face.

The second suspect also wore a ski mask and is described as a black male 6"1 with a muscular build.

The two men have been on the run for more than a month now. That's why police need your help finding them.

Remember it's tips from you, the general public that can help put criminals behind bars.

Although the suspects managed to get away, police say it won't be long before they're caught.

With tips from you their capture can come quick, "We developed some leads but we like to have more leads in order to apprehend these two individuals," said Sergeant Bush.

In 1985, a non-profit organization operated by the Columbus Police Department began operations.

That organization is called Crime Stoppers.  Each week we will profile the "Most Wanted" criminals in our area.
