Manchester Police: Train derails, spills fertilizer

MANCHESTER, GA (WTVM) - A CSX Railroad train derailed in Manchester, Georgia during a routine route from Mulberry, Florida to Chicago.  It happened Sunday shortly after 7:00 p.m.

The train consisted of 3 locomotives and 99 cars, 4 cars derailed and one turned over, according to Gary Scase, CSX Spokesperson.

The accident caused a freight car to spill fertilizer onto the ground after landing on its side.  The Manchester Fire Department cleaned up the mess.

It happened underneath the Broad Street Bridge near Truitt Street.  No word on what caused the train to leave the tracks.

No one was injured. The accident is still under investigation.
