American Falls in State Championship Game

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (WTVM) - A late rally proved to be too little, too late, as the American All-Stars fell to Warner Robins American East 4-2 on Friday night in the finals of the Georgia Little League state tournament in Cartersville.

American trailed 4-0 in the fifth inning when Jackson Mellenberg had an RBI double and Tyler Pace cracked an RBI single to cut the deficit in half.

But Trey Odom pitched a perfect sixth inning to preserve the win for starter Jake Fromm, who struck out 12 batters in four-plus innings.

Warner Robins scored three runs in the first inning to take the early advantage.

Warner Robins American has now won four of the last five Georgia state titles.

American had a perfect record in the post-season, winning all four games at the Region 8 tournament, and the first five games at the state tourney.
