Auburn police hosting National Night Out event

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) –  National Night Out is a police-community awareness event held the first Tuesday of August.

The annual event has been held every year in America since 1984 and is meant to increase awareness about police programs in communities such as Neighborhood Watch and other anti-crime efforts.

This is Auburn Police Division's second year of participation. Members of the division will be present Tuesday evening in the Ridgecrest housing community and Grove Hill subdivision. Residents of those neighborhoods are encouraged to come out and support the event.

For more information on National Night Out or to get the exact locations and times of the various planned events for Tuesday evening contact Capt. Tommy Carswell at 501-3110.
