AUBURN — The 19th-ranked Auburn football team went through its second day of workouts in shorts and helmets Thursday afternoon on the practice fields behind the Athletics Complex.
Practicing in considerably milder temperatures than from Wednesday, the Tigers worked in split squads with one group practicing and another in weight conditioning before flipping midway through the session.
Auburn head coach Gene Chizik was pleased with Thursday's practice and noted the team's attention to details.
"I thought it was a good second day of practice," Chizik noted. "The older guys had a really good practice. I thought the energy level was where it needed to be. They were focused and trying to do the little things the right way, which is what we want from them."
The Tigers will practice at 5 p.m. Friday, but will break from the split squad workouts and practice as a whole unit. After two days of practicing in shorts and helmets, the Tigers will don shoulder pads and practice in "shells" for the next two days.
