COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Michael Craig with the District Attorney's office tells News Leader 9 a man connected to a 12-year-old murder was granted bond Friday morning.

Michael Miller was granted bond by Judge Bobby Peters in the amount of $250,000.  He is accused of killing Shawnita Campbell, 24, in April of 1999 in south Columbus.

Miller was arrested in February of this year in Ohio. We are told that his case will be heard by a grand jury in the coming weeks.

Judge Peters ruled that even if Miller cannot make bond, he is entitled to a reasonable bond for the charges of which he is accused.

If he is able to post the bond amount, he will be required to wear an ankle bracelet to monitor his location at all times.

Witnesses say Miller shot Campbell in a car during an argument. Investigators say Campbell's body was dumped in a field off Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The Columbus Police Department's Cold Case Squad was reopened the case in 2010. Investigators say witnesses were vital in bringing details to light.
