Chizik: Auburn's Frost out for season

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn coach Gene Chizik says freshman linebacker Kris Frost won't play this season.

Frost had shoulder surgery in late July, and Chizik said Tuesday that "there's no way" he'll be back in time. Frost was one of the nation's top outside linebacker prospects, a position where the Tigers needed immediate help.

Chizik says "we were counting on him to help us." Linebackers Josh Bynes and Craig Stevens both graduated from an already thin position.

Frost was injured during a summer workout. Chizik says he'll be doing a "very thorough" rehabilitation program for the next few months.
