Eufaula man wanted for kidnapping and aggravated assault

EUFAULA, AL (WTVM) - Quitman County Sheriffs' Deputies are looking for a Eufaula man for kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Arrest warrants were issued for Johnny Womack, 56, of Eufaula after he attacked and kidnapped his girlfriend on Monday evening.

The kidnapping continued across state lines before the victim was able to escape.

After her escape, the victim returned to Eufaula where she went to Medical Center Barbour for treatment.  Quitman County Deputies were notified by emergency room personnel.

"It appears that the victim came very close to losing her life.  Her escape may have saved her," said Sheriff Steve Newton.  U. S. Marshalls have been notified and are assisting in the manhunt.
