DEVELOPING: Chattahoochee County fire deaths ruled homicides

CUSSETA, GA (WTVM) – A fatal house fire in Chattahoochee County earlier this week has now turned into a homicide investigation. Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say they made their decision after reviewing findings from an autopsy.

The fire was discovered early Tuesday morning and inside the home were the owners, Edward and Elaine Baker.  The family told officials they were in they home when it burned down.

A fire official from Chattahoochee County said the fire was fully involved and the roof had caved in when fire officials arrived on the scene.

This is the first fire fatality since 1964 in Chattahoochee County.
