Columbus, GA (WTVM)- The US Army's biggest logistical movement in history unfolded at Fort Benning Thursday morning.  The final fleet of armor arrived from Fort Knox, Kentucky rolled off the rails at Harmony Church.

The military began moving the heavy equipment a year ago as part of BRAC or Base Realignment and Closures.

The total shipment included tanks, 96 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, more than 160 M1's and some strikers.  A total of 33 pieces of armored vehicles arrived Thursday.  The manpower needed for today's event consisted of nearly 60 personnel.

"It feels good to know that we're all complete with the BRAC move. We have all of our equipment down here ready to teach the future leaders of the army everything they need to know and we have the equipment to do it," said SFC Ryan Healy. He drove the last vehicle off the rails.

Fort Benning is now equipped to train 51% of the army. Training must start October, 1St, a congress mandated deadline.
