Hightower undergoes surgery on hand

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama linebacker Dont'a Hightower is nursing an injured hand.

Hightower missed the Tide's practice on Thursday after sustaining a fractured hand during practice on Sunday. Coach Nick Saban seemed relatively unconcerned about the injury to the preseason All-SEC selection.

"They did a little surgical procedure on it today," Saban said. "He'll probably be able come back and practice tomorrow. It's not even as bad as Julio's hand was. He doesn't even know how he did it, to be honest with you.

Last season, wide receiver Julio Jones suffered a fractured hand last season. Jones returned later in the same game and didn't miss any action.

Center William Vlachos also missed practice with an illness.
