COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A family dispute sent one man to jail and left the other in critical condition.
Police say James Holder, 72, shot his step-son in the jaw after an argument Monday night. Family members tell News Leader 9 police were called out to their 10th Avenue home earlier in the night because the two men were fighting, but then things escalated out of control.
Wednesday the family spoke out about the fight that might result in them losing two family members: one in jail and the other barely holding on to life.
"I love James with all my heart but I do not want him around me anymore. If my baby dies I want to see what can be done to him because I don't want to live without my baby," Mae Holder told News Leader Nine. She is the wife of James Holder and the mother of Lucky Henderson.
The victim, 54-year-old Lucky Henderson, was shot in the jaw and now doctors say the bullet is lodged in his throat. His family tells us he is in a coma and remains in critical condition.
His step-father, James Holder, is still in the Muscogee County Jail.
