COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Muscogee County Sheriff's deputies are searching for a runaway sex offender and they need your help finding him.

Sgt. Shawn Riley with the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office has been searching for 34-year old Andrew Prinstson Thomas for a long time.  He is a wanted sex offender who police say failed to register his new address.

Each week, News Leader 9 profiles the most wanted criminals in our area.

"They can come in and give us an address; we still have to verify it. Some of them will use friend's addresses and don't really stay there and that's the reason why we still have to check. If they're not honest with us, we need to make a good tight reign on these individuals," says Riley.

Giving the wrong address is one of the biggest problems police say they face with sex offenders. It is a crime officials take very seriously.

According to sheriff officials Thomas has been on the run since September of 2010. He is 5'8" and weighs around 190 pounds.

If you know anything about Thomas or where he may be you are asked to call the Muscogee County Sheriff's Department at 706-225-3349.
