Cross country journey raises thousands for PAWS Humane

COLUMBUS, GA - Rad Delaroderie has been on a mission for the last 17 days: raising awareness for Columbus's PAWS Humane.  He and his stuffed dog Paw-Paw made an 8,000 mile trek through 34 states encouraging people to love their animals and to donate to PAWS.  His efforts paid off---earning about $2500.

"That's the first time I heard that number.  I was going to…I hadn't gotten the final figure.  I think that's amazing," said Delaroderie.

Bob Robbins, the Executive Director for PAWS Humane, says he knows exactly where that money is going.

"It goes toward the dogs.  We have a full vet clinic.  One of our key missions is the control of overpopulation," said Robbins.

About a month ago, Delaroderie approached Robbins with the idea of a cross country journey to combine his two loves: motorcycles and animals.

"Their slogan is not cutesy, but its accurate.  It is animals helping people and people helping animals, and it emphasizes the cooperative relationship and what we call our companion pets, our dogs and cats."

Robbins says he doesn't think this is the end of Rad's journey.

"I can see Rad visiting our neighborhoods on his motorcycle getting the word out on how the citizens of Columbus can help the animals."

After this trip, Rad's exhausted, but says it's so worth it for future pets.
