Glenwood Opens Season With Win Over Tattnall

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WTVM) - The Glenwood Gators opened the 2011 high school football season in style, posting a 47-44 win over Tattnall Square Academy on Friday night.

Brandon Daley and Chase Silvani connected on an 84-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, and Luke Wilson scored on a 51-yard punt return to give the Gators a 14-7 halftime lead. They then hung on in a second half shootout to earn the victory.

One other area team played a regular season game. Flint River won at Trinity-Sharpsburg, 28-6.

Most area high school teams open the regular season next week.
