High school senior killed after collision with school bus

SEALE, AL (WTVM) – Authorities tell us high school senior, 17-year-old Casey Hearn, died after the teen's car collided with a Russell County school bus Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred around 6:45 a.m. on Highway 169 South where sheriff's officials say Hearn's 1995 Honda Accord crossed into the southbound lane hitting the 2000 Bluebird school bus head on.

The State Trooper tells us 49 people were on the bus.

The bus driver, 49-year-old Cathy Moore, and 10 students were transported by ambulance to the Medical Center in Columbus. Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. The remaining students were taken to the hospital by school bus for observation.

No other details surrounding the crash are available at this time. The accident remains under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers.
