RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - Wednesday morning's school bus accident in Russell County forever changed the class of 2012 at Russell County High School.

Just two weeks into the new school year, 17 year-old Casey Hearn was killed after a head on collision with a school bus. Corey Eubanks has known Casey since 7th grade.

We caught up with Corey walking home from school today. He says hearing about his best friend was just too much to bear.

"He's a swell person, he was really swell, he was fun to hang out with do fun and crazy things with and you know, we will always remember him, that's what I feel, I'm going to always remember him," Eubanks said.

Students on the school bus were taken to the Medical Center in Columbus. One of those was sophomore Peaches Scott, who tells us everything happened in an instant.

"Our bus went into the woods and she tried to climb out the window there were kids going crazy people were jumping out the windows and going through, but we evacuated really quick so everybody made it off safe," Scott said.
