Several Area Teams Get a Head Start on the Prep FB Season

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) Several area prep football squads got things started a day earlier than the rest, opening their seasons on Thursday night.

Dontrevious Bolden had two touchdown runs in the first half to stake Randolph-Clay to an early lead as the Red Devils knocked off Kendrick 33-20 at McClung Memorial Stadium.

At Kinnett Stadium, Devante Bryant's 99-yard touchdown run provided the go-ahead score as Manchester scored 12 unanswered points in the second half to rally to a 34-23 victory over Columbus.

Class AAA LaGrange played up, and Class AAAAA Newnan made the Grangers pay, winning 27-6 at Callaway Stadium.

And in Alabama, Chambers Academy fell to Cornerstone Christian 35-19 in a game played in Columbiana, Ala.

Most area high school football teams get their seasons started tonight.
