COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Beth Hendrickson spoke with her brother John Wallace every week. Even though he lived in Michigan and she lived in Columbus the two would send emails back and forth constantly checking in on one another.

Beth never thought the last email she got from john would be the last.

"He told his wife Lisa, I'm going to take a trip to Yellowstone and she said well, are you going to go by yourself he said I think I will, I've been out there four or five times, I know the trails," Hendrickson said.

Beth told me today that her brother John loved the outdoors; he worked for the national parks. One of his favorites was Yellowstone. While on a camping trip last week, he left a voice mail for his wife Lisa.

"He said Lisa I have come to heaven again it's beautiful I'm going to setup my campsite and go hiking," Hendrickson said.

That would be the last time John Wallace talked with his wife. His sister Beth says during that hike on the Mary mountain trail he was mauled by a Grizzly bear.

John's body was found by hikers on Friday. It was surrounded by bear tracks. His sister Beth says though her brother is gone, his memory will live on forever.

"If I could quote something he would say live life to the fullest don't let anything hold you back, go out there and love life and do what you can for others, take care and nature love nature."
