COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Walter Ragan, a Talbot County man, pleaded not guilty in Columbus court Thursday to terroristic threats. His son already had his day in court for murder charges, and police were trying to figure out if the two crimes were related.

Last week Lonnie Ragan was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the Billings Court shooting death of Holly Hearn. This week, his father, Walter Ragan joins him in jail, charged with making terroristic threats.

In Recorder's Court Thursday morning police said Walter Ragan was making phone calls and leaving voice messages, threatening the life of a relative. The woman then contacted authorities and Ragan was arrested in Talbot County and transported to the Muscogee County Jail. Ragan is also accused of calling investigators working on the murder case against his son to complain.

His wife, Robin Ragan, left court unhappy with the connection people are making between her son's crime and her husband's crime, "This is totally wrong. We didn't even know he was on the news until the other day. Everybody is flabbergasted that they are trying to make a connection."

Walter Ragan's prior charges were also brought up in court. He was convicted of kidnapping, rape and child molestation and that is why investigators thought his phone call threats were so serious.

Ragan's bond for the felony charges was set at $100,000. If he does make bond, he has been ordered to have no contact with police, the victim, the Hearn family and he must not attend Holly Hearn's funeral. His son, Lonnie Ragan, remains in the Muscogee County Jail without bond.
